Lunar maps: NASA Scientific Visualization Studio (Goddard Space Flight Center), CGI Moon Kit. The colour map comes from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC), the elevation relief from the Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA). NASA material is generally in the public domain (NASA Media Usage Guidelines).
Star positions: Hoffleit, D. & Warren, W. H. Jr. (1991): The Bright Star Catalogue, 5th Revised Edition. Obtained from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, mirrored at CDS/VizieR (V/50) and at NASA HEASARC. Shown are the 8,404 stars down to magnitude 6.5 – the limit of the unaided eye.
